The Federal Communications Commission is prohibiting further certification, manufacture, importation, sale or use of 121.5 MHz emergency locator transmitters. The date of compliance by the FCC has not yet been announced. AEA, along with other Associations’ leadership, is working with the FAA and the FCC to postpone implementation and resolve this issue. AEA will post weekly updates on the website to address this critical issue. more info
On May 28, 2010, the Federal Aviation Administration published the long-awaited ADS-B final rule. This final rule establishes equipage and airspace requirements and performance standards for Automatic Dependant Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out. The rule does not address ADS-B In. more info
The Federal Aviation Administration has amended the compliance date for certain requirements on certain aircraft as specified in “Cockpit Voice Recorder and Digital Flight Data Recorder Regulations.” In March 2008, the FAA published a final rule titled, “Revisions to Cockpit Voice Recorder and Digital Flight Data Recorder Regulations.”
The rule required certain upgrades of cockpit voice recorder and digital flight data recorder equipment on certain aircraft beginning April 7, 2010. This date has been extended for certain aircraft. more info
